Stormpath currently does not support an Account invitation workflow. This is a planned feature on our roadmap.
Some developers use our Password Reset workflow to simulate a temporary “invite” workflow. If you’re interested in giving it a try, these are the steps:
- Create new Accounts using the REST API or one of our language SDKs. Stormpath Accounts require certain attributes, such as email, password, first name, and last name. This means you'll need to create the Accounts with a placeholder password. Since no user will need to remember this password, it should be a high-entropy, computer generated value.
- Issue a password reset on the new Accounts. This will send a message to the users' Email with a temporary token + link that points to a page on your site where they can input their chosen password. You can customize the message for your use case. Read more about our password reset workflow here.
Please be aware that it is currently not possible to create unique messages for invite and password reset emails within the same Directory.
